Easter Holidays

Well done to all of year 7 in completing their Science & Ethics Rich Task,  All students have worked really hard over this past term and have achieved or surpassed their target levels.  Well done year 7.  

Furthermore, school breaks up today at 3.00pm today and all students will return on Monday 15th April.  Please ensure that all students have full uniform (including school shoes) and stationary on their return.

Renewable & Non-renewable energy week

Students are currently completing work on renewable and non-renewable energy sources.  They have created illustrated diagrams on how fossil fuels are formed and have explained the advantages and disadvantages of these types of fuels.  

By the end of this week each student will have designed their own energy island and explained why they have chosen their specific energy sources for their island. Pictures will be inserted on Friday to show off the students work.

Welcome back everyone,
 
I hope you have had a lovely half term and are ready to get back into the everyday swing of things.
This week students are focusing on the different body systems, primarily the circulation and respiratory system. Already students have had the chance to dissect an animal heart and write about their findings. Students have been looking at the importance of blood and the role in which it plays within the human body. Each student is progressing nicely and working towards their rich task target.

2. Remember to bring homework planner into school each day.
3. NO TRAINERS TO BE WORN FOR SCHOOL, SCHOOL SHOES ONLY.

Endangered species

Week commencing: 11/2/2013
 
This week the students have been focusing on endangered species and visited South Lake Zoo last Friday to help reinforce the impact humans can have on wild animals. 
 
Furthermore, students have completed their class read of “Stormbreaker” this week ImageImageand will be completing their own book review using their VCOP pyramids for guidance. 
 
Please remember that school breaks up for half term this Friday at normal time and students will return to school on Monday 25th February.

South Lake Wildlife Park

A trip has been organised for all year 7 students to visit South Lake Wildlife Park on Friday 8th February. The trip will help to enhance the students’ knowledge on animal habitats and their adaptations to their different environments. 
  A contribution cost of £8.00 is to be paid towards transport costs. All students can wear their own clothes on the day and will require a packed lunch.  Please ensure that all consent and medical forms are completed and returned to school before Wednesday 6th February.
  This trip is a great opportunity for your child to experience hands on learning in an outdoor environment.

Reminder for Students & Parents

Please ensure that all students are bringing stationary to school to enable them to complete their work effectively.  Also students need to ensure that their homework planners are being signed by parents and are being used properly.

Students are continuing with their PET projects.  They have been researching the digestive system, completing information leaflets and creating poems on their chosen animals.  Their booklets are coming together nicely and they are producing some fantastic work (please see attached photos)
